Every once in a while, you will come across an artist that you respect for more than just their ability to make good music. I, myself, tend to favor those whom are transparent and have a real story to tell, and convey it in such a way that is both unique and captivating. Bene is one of those artists.
Throughout the years that I’ve known him, I could sense that he would one day become one of the proverbial roses that grew from the concrete. Although his music, to me, is still rough around the edges in certain areas, to say he is not constantly progressing would be a flat out lie. He is quickly rising from the rank of “rapper” to “artist.” And it is also important to note that he’s only 19 years old. In the aptly-titled “Through It All, I Rise”, we hear Bene reflect on past experiences and hardships, drop knowledge, and unapologetically express his views on a myriad of topics. Sonically, Bene offers a palette that is sure to accommodate the tastes of all hip-hop lovers. From upbeat, trunk-rattling trap songs to more slow paced, melodic introspective songs, TIAIR leaves no stone left unturned and caters to all.
It is with great honor that I also add we gave it the official Lucramotives stamp on the back cover to show our support and solidarity with Bene as he continues to pursue his dreams. Lastly, congratulations to my bro, Bene, on the release of his fondest body of work to date. Stay hungry and stay humble.

A couple great minds over the past year have been reinforcing the necessity of knowledge of self to me. And not the cool packaged kind for $19.95, or whatever–no, real knowledge of self. The kind that only develops after innumerable hours of researching, dialogue, and reflection. These great minds took the time to remind me that other avenues taken in the interest of liberation have not worked, and are simply not the answers. And yet, these are the same avenues we continue to push for. Why?
Most teachers and leaders offer no truly sensible solutions, no new information, and no direction. The same propaganda has been promulgated for decades but has yet to bring about that highly sought after change. Followers are encouraged to listen, buy products and lend their support, yet they fail to help cultivate the seeds of critical thinking and objective analysis that lie dormant in most of our minds–rendering our conversations fruitless and actions futile at our own expense. Which in itself should make you question whose interests they are really serving.
The change that many of us are looking for cannot be made within this current system. It is against its very nature. This system is not one that respects humanity, it dehumanizes and devalues. Our worth is measured by what we have, not who we are. The solutions will come once we all achieve the same level of understanding of what it is we’re dealing with. Change has to be initiated from within each of us. But, we all have to collectively define what change that is–undefined goals are counterproductive. Until then, we will be trapped in this vicious cycle for generations to come.
Our mantra at Lucramotives is: “Know Your Worth.” Knowing our worth is fundamental in order to succeed in our endeavors. We have to know what each of us can bring to the table. To accomplish this, we have to first know ourselves. Study world history–especially that which pertains to your ancestry. Study the human anatomy–learn how our bodies operate and what you can do to make it more efficient. Study our ecosystem and how are very being is dependent on it. These are just a few examples to get us started.
Having a decent understanding of each of these subjects will give you a new perspective not only of the world, but of yourself. You see, we live in a world today that wants to categorize us. We feel the need to carry certain labels, often times not even of our choosing, but we accept them. From a young age, many of us are taught to fit into a certain mold or else we will be looked at as failures or outcasts. This often leads us down the path of having to compromise our morals, our dreams, our happiness, our VALUE just to fit in. Just to keep up and go with the flow so we don’t get left behind.
Lucramotives strives to empower everyone in all walks of life. We encourage you to never compromise your value as a human being. Respect yourself, believe in yourself, but, first, KNOW YOURSELF. There is no limit to what we could accomplish collectively with this fundamental way of not just thinking, but living. It all starts with self.
I took several months off from this site to collect myself. To be honest, I just had lost the motivation that I had when I first started this venture. After countless hours of thought and reflection, I’ve come to understand that this is my life’s mission and am now fully committed to seeing it succeed.
Lucramotives, as I think I have explained here before, is much more than an attempt at a catchy gimmick: it is a lifestyle, a movement. What exactly does this word mean? To me, it means progress; it means inspiration; it means creativity. Lucramotives is a hybridization of the words “lucrative,” “motives” and “locomotive.” Lucrative is not wholly used in a capitalistic sense, but also in a figurative sense. Whatever you can gain from spiritually, physically, or mentally–that is “lucrative”. And that is what our “motives” consist of: gaining for the betterment of ourselves in the interest of helping others do the same. It plays off of the word “locomotive” because once this idea is set into motion, it is a force that cannot be stopped. My ultimate goal with Lucramotives is to become a beacon of hope unto the world and future generations. I, as well as those whom are proponents of this movement, strive to empower and uplift the broken, hopeless, misguided, “underachievers,” downtrodden, overlooked and unheard members of society.
So in conclusion, I encourage all those who stop by this page to feel free to leave comments on our posts–and please like our Facebook and follow us on Twitter @Lucramotives to keep up with us. We have much more in store as we continue to build and grow. Right now, our primary focus will be on spreading our message and building up our name. Thank you all for your time and visiting our page.
The focusing of your time and energy on your goals will often draw that proverbial time between you and those around you and create some mixed feelings. On one hand, some will hate and say you’ve changed. On the other hand, some will support you and be right by your side. The best option for aspiring entrepreneurs, in my opinion, is to ensure every single person you keep in your immediate circle serves a purpose. There must be some sort of mutual understanding between everybody where everyone has a role to play in each other’s lives. After all, who wouldn’t want to take their friends with them all the way to the top so that everyone can eat? Don’t make this strictly about yourself because it will take a collective effort to get where you want to be — there’s no way around that. Those that are constantly negative and not supporting you will only deter you from your path and need to be left by the wayside as you make this journey. Synchronicity is the key. Keep your vision clear, my friends.
I’m going to introduce you all to the 3 C’s of decision making that might help you. Carefully calculate the cost. You see, a lot of us make very impulsive decisions that sound good at the time, but what about the long term? Rather than look back disappointed in hindsight, we need to look with our foresight to ensure we’re making the proper decision. This will help eliminate those regretful decisions that tend to get us in trouble or even just to make a better overall decision than you would have made, otherwise. When confronted with a tough decision, weigh the costs and the benefits. What will this do for me in the long run and what are the repercussions if I do/don’t do it? When we make decisions in the heat of the moment, that’s when we tend to screw up. Because either we don’t have time to, or because our emotions at the time cloud our better judgment Stop for a second, breathe, and carefully go over the problem in your head. Is this the right decison? Or is it simply the right now decision? Think…
At Lucramotives, we have the utmost respect and support for those who are aspiring to become self-made entrepreneurs and strive to do so in a positive way. Here we have Chicago’s own Lisse introducing his new spoken word poetry segment on his YouTube channel, LyricalTV. Very good poem and some well put together visuals on top of that. Shout out to LB and Lisse.
