A couple great minds over the past year have been reinforcing the necessity of knowledge of self to me. And not the cool packaged kind for $19.95, or whatever–no, real knowledge of self. The kind that only develops after innumerable hours of researching, dialogue, and reflection. These great minds took the time to remind me that other avenues taken in the interest of liberation have not worked, and are simply not the answers. And yet, these are the same avenues we continue to push for. Why?
Most teachers and leaders offer no truly sensible solutions, no new information, and no direction. The same propaganda has been promulgated for decades but has yet to bring about that highly sought after change. Followers are encouraged to listen, buy products and lend their support, yet they fail to help cultivate the seeds of critical thinking and objective analysis that lie dormant in most of our minds–rendering our conversations fruitless and actions futile at our own expense. Which in itself should make you question whose interests they are really serving.
The change that many of us are looking for cannot be made within this current system. It is against its very nature. This system is not one that respects humanity, it dehumanizes and devalues. Our worth is measured by what we have, not who we are. The solutions will come once we all achieve the same level of understanding of what it is we’re dealing with. Change has to be initiated from within each of us. But, we all have to collectively define what change that is–undefined goals are counterproductive. Until then, we will be trapped in this vicious cycle for generations to come.
I took several months off from this site to collect myself. To be honest, I just had lost the motivation that I had when I first started this venture. After countless hours of thought and reflection, I’ve come to understand that this is my life’s mission and am now fully committed to seeing it succeed.
Lucramotives, as I think I have explained here before, is much more than an attempt at a catchy gimmick: it is a lifestyle, a movement. What exactly does this word mean? To me, it means progress; it means inspiration; it means creativity. Lucramotives is a hybridization of the words “lucrative,” “motives” and “locomotive.” Lucrative is not wholly used in a capitalistic sense, but also in a figurative sense. Whatever you can gain from spiritually, physically, or mentally–that is “lucrative”. And that is what our “motives” consist of: gaining for the betterment of ourselves in the interest of helping others do the same. It plays off of the word “locomotive” because once this idea is set into motion, it is a force that cannot be stopped. My ultimate goal with Lucramotives is to become a beacon of hope unto the world and future generations. I, as well as those whom are proponents of this movement, strive to empower and uplift the broken, hopeless, misguided, “underachievers,” downtrodden, overlooked and unheard members of society.
So in conclusion, I encourage all those who stop by this page to feel free to leave comments on our posts–and please like our Facebook and follow us on Twitter @Lucramotives to keep up with us. We have much more in store as we continue to build and grow. Right now, our primary focus will be on spreading our message and building up our name. Thank you all for your time and visiting our page.
We allow too much to transpire without addressing them. People must be held accountable for what they do. It is our responsibility to correct the ways of wrongdoers or we are only perpetuating the same kinds of evil that we claim to be against. No matter how big or small we perceive another’s transgressions to be, they are transgressions, nonetheless. We must address them.
Welcome to my blog! My mission here is to spread a message of peace and positivity all the while sharing some of my thoughts, experiences, opinions, and knowledge. I have created my own concept/brand called “Lucramotives” which I will explain at a later time. For now, here is my first post.
How many of us can say we are an individual? Or we are our own person? Many of us are slaves to vanity and trends, among many other things, and are conditioned to following the status quo. We suppress our own thoughts and beliefs in order to be accepted amongst our peers. Maybe you bite your tongue in certain discussions out of fear that you will be looked at in a negative light even if it is the right thing to say! Nowadays, if one dares to be different then they get mocked or become the butt of the jokes in their peer group who all wear Jordans, name brand clothes, and listen to the same music. If you share an unpopular idea or live a certain lifestyle you become an outcast. It’s almost as if we are discouraged to follow our own path, have our own ideas and beliefs, drive a certain car, like certain types of clothes, etc. Basically, I’m saying all of this to emphasize staying true to who YOU are and all that comes with that. Don’t be afraid to go against the grain if it means staying true to yourself and your likes, beliefs, morals, etc. as long as it is for the greater good of yourself and the people around you. Never compromise who you are for nothing and no one. Some of the greatest minds ever got where they were/are because they stayed true to who they were/are and didn’t fall victim to the snares of society or the status quo. I will conclude this post with the following quote, “Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else’s opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.” – Oscar Wilde
